Oil pressure fluctuating

I have a 2002 monte carlo ss.  When i give it gas
tge oil pressure climbs to almost hot. When i let off
the gas it goes back down to normal.   My bf
seems to thinknits the oil pump just want to clarify
before spending money on a part i dont need if
thats not the problem.  Thanks in advance for any
help.

The oil Pressure gauge reads PRESSURE, not heat.

Some fluctuating is normal. If the idle pressure is too low your engine could be worn or maybe just the oil pump.

Why don't you replace the sending unit first?? lot easier and cheaper.

Give it gas the pressure gauge shoots up to almost hot let off the gas and it drops back to normal. And it sputters whenbyou accelerate
