Fiero 5-speed

Asked by ROLLITON Jan 19, 2010 at 02:17 AM about the 1988 Pontiac Fiero

Question type: General

What was the Fiero like for shifting action with the manual box? Slick, not so bad, or not so good?

Not bad, I have one. Sometimes if you are trying to shift quickly it is easy to miss a shift and grind the gears but as long as it is not cold (below 32 degrees) it shifts pretty smooth. Some people have swapped teh shifter for a shorter model but I do not have any experience on that. The shifter is a cable drive vice rod driven to the transmission.

I had a 86 1/2 gt coup. It had a 5 speed. The most fun car I ever had .I knew right where the fuse was for the lights, so I could pull it when I stopped. Wat a great automobile. I would do it all again.
