1988 Fiero Standard Coupe 2.5L engine with Complete loss of power.

Asked by tlamburgey Apr 06, 2022 at 09:29 PM about the 1988 Pontiac Fiero Base

Question type: General

Fiero looses all power.  Battery good, replaced ground and negative wires,
Replaced O2 Censor and replaced Ignition Module, Plugs new, plug wires
new, MAP sensor new.  After O2 sensor replaced started and ran good for a
very short time.  After Ignition Module replaced started and ran perfect.  Sat
over night and then would barely start.  Replaced MAP and ran almost
perfect but put it on the road and it again lost All Power.  Everything is dead
so what can I do next?

I assume you mean it loses electrical power . Or do you mean the engine lacks power ? Look for corrosion at elec. disconnects or loose wires behind the dash ie. amp meter . Replacing parts nilly willy is not the best way to go about it .

If it is going dead electrically then look for corrosion inside the main power wires and connections, it only takes one spot of black corrosion to reek havoc with the electrical..
