05 Trailblazer rear brakes

My rear brake is eating away my rotor. Can I remove the
worn out pads to stop this and have it be drivable to take it
to a mechanic?

Keep the pads on. Even if it's metal to metal, you're ok to drive to a mechanic. Removing the pads, then driving it is very dangerous, don't do it. I've put 230k+ on 2 Trailblazers, never had to change the rear rotors. Most of the braking is up front. But removing the rear pads will ruin every thing and you'll have no brakes due to the piston on the rear caliper hitting the rotor, plus you'll have no brake pressure to stop up front. Will cause not only damage, but a wreck.
