Do i need to replace the head gasket?

Asked by papabayer Feb 04, 2015 at 09:45 PM about the 1986 Porsche 944

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My exhaust has black smoke out the tail
pipe and white smoke sometimes in the
morning. The car has been over-heating
regularly. I have gone through a lot of antI-
freeze in the last 3 weeks. Sometimes it
doesn't smoke at all. . My mechanic says it
is a head gasket. It's 1986 turbo. Can you
advise.

You need a head gasket. If you keep letting it overheat, you'll need a new engine.
