71 super beetle fuel capacity

I have 71 super (autostick) I have no manuals etc and of course fuel gauge works when it wants to and thats not often. What is the fuel capacity?? Another thing. This thing has a centrifical distributor. I couldn't figure why I couldn't time it until it dawned on me that with these types of distrs high idle time is 28 degrees before TDC>
