1972 Dodge Charger
Need an engine and transmission for a 1972 Charger.
How difficult is this restoration going to be? I have no idea
about availability or compatibility on parts. Can anyone
give some insights?
Here is some pictures
You could write a book on everything to look for when it comes to potential restoration projects. If you have never done one and plan to farm all the work out, it will be expensive. The upside is this is really becoming a popular model and will increase in value. There are also tons of resources and parts for B-bodied Mopars. You can also use a number of crate motors, or a vintage motor. (no shortage of either, but crate motors will cost you a few to several thousand). Restoration on the body really depends on whether it really is rust-free or not. Check under the carpet for the condition of the floors, check the rear frame rails, rot there is very expensive and difficult to fix. An experienced eye can tell the difference between surface rust and rot. You'll have to decide fast, because if the price is right on this someone will snap it up in a heartbeat.
