Won't stay in reverse

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1991 Passat, 5 spd manual transmission.  Runs great forward, pops out of reverse after a few feet.  Any ideas?

Sounds like a problem internal to the transmission. You'll have to have a good mechanic or trans shop diagnose this. I have seen the same problem with a Nissan Maxima, ended up needing a replacement trans.
