Mayo on my oil cap, not on dipstick and no white smoke

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So, I have a 2000 VW New Beetle
2.0L, with mayo under the oil fill cap. I
hadn’t had an oil change in a while,
so I changed it a week ago. That’s
when I noticed the mayo. My car was
over heating easily before the oil
change. I guess my question is, if it’s
only under the cap and not on my
dipstick, with no black or white
smoke coming from the exhaust, do I
have a blown head gasket?

Maybe just condensation due to not driving far enough to fully warm up the engine. Do you only make short trips?

You do need to address the overheating issue which may or may not be related.

I don’t drive it very far, due to many many issues that I’ve steadily been repairing over the last couple of years. I bought it second-hand from a woman who didn’t know what a mechanic was, (I’m being facetious, sort of.) I’ve had oil pan issues out the wahzoo, but this is the first time I’ve ever gotten mayonnaise. It was in the shop a few months ago and passed a compression check, flawlessly. I’ll make an appointment to get another one, though. It’s just weird that it’s only under the cap and not the dipstick. I did change my spark plugs recently, and one was pretty gunked up. I’m pretty sure I’m just wishful thinking, and I’ll have a blown gasket, if not now - soon.
