Burning smell coming from front of car

Asked by Flo Jan 31, 2016 at 01:50 PM about the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport trac and started
noticing a burning smell coming from under the
hood. I have checked all the liquids and they are
fine. I have not used the heater.  What can it be?

Did you ever figure out that smell? I know it's been 4 years since the post. My 2001 starting to have a smell as well.

@ GuruM23KB, my 02 model just started with this issue? Can’t pinpoint it, all fluids are good, smells like burnt rubber, especially strong out of exhaust. Not in the engine area when I check. Curious if you figured out your issue. Best regards and thank you
