Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i got a 289 in a 84 ranger i think i spun a bearing, but not sure. I took all belts off and cranked motor. IT sounded like a really loud sqweeling. Is this somthing i should pull the motor and investigate or is it a cut and dry case of aspun bearing.                                                                                                                                                                                            SEMPER FI,

Dear americanmuscle-- Your answer is yes, no and maybe. From just your description it could be the bearing, but the noise could also be coming from the water pump, alternator, flywheel, a/c clutch or the transmission. Are all fluid levels correct? This is the best I can tell you without more information. Let me know what you find. Good luck from Bovan.
