whats wrong with my truck

Asked by coates89 Aug 30, 2012 at 05:29 PM about the 1989 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 89 F150 xlt lariat 302 standard trans. I was in 4th gear going into 5th and it wouldn't engage so I
went back to 4th and it wouldn't engage. This happened all the way to first. I got it to go back in first and
tried climbing the gears again. I got it to 4th and went to go in 5th and it was again a no go so I went back
to 4th no go and all the way back to first and this time it wouldn't do anything. The truck still starts up and
will run but won't move. It slowly crawls in 2 low if that means anything. I thought maybe the slave
cylinder but I'm not too knowledgeable. What would be wrong?

YUP. !!! Sounds like you need a new clutch. They don't last forever. Kenny/MrBlueOval
