Can an alternator influence the transmission?

Asked by Joshua Jun 10, 2018 at 02:50 PM about the 2002 Subaru Forester

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My brake and battery lights came on simultaneously. I assume this has to do
with the alternator because my radio went dead and my car now won't start. My
car also lost the ability to accelerate or drive and the Transmission temperature
light came on moments after the initial brake and battery indicator. What is
happening and where should I start?

I would test the alternator and battery. Low voltage can make electronics malfunction.

I took the alternator to O Reily and had the component tested directly. The alternator is fine. Where should I go from here to start looking into the electrical system?
