Hello jenny-- I been spending a lot of time at a site that might interest you called www.carcomplaints.com. These guys keep track of recalls, service bulletins, lemon law cases and general complaints on most vehicles. Your Ford Windstar does indeed have a high percentage of transmission complaints. The 2002 Windstar page is http://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Windstar/2000/. I hope this is not bad news that will ruin your day. Good luck from Bovan.

Well, ours failed. We bought a Ford genuine rebuilt with a 3-year warranty. I failed a few more times under warranty and finally since Ford could not fix it, we sold the car back to Ford for it's value as if it was "perfect".

My 1999 Windstar tranmission failed at 25K miles and was rebuilt at the Dealership. The van now has 93K miles on it.
