What conditions are you driving in? pavement? Dirt? Mud? Is your truck a manual shift transfer case or is it select shift?

I only use my 4 wheel drive on snow on pavement. I swtch to 4 wheel drive on the dash. I don't have to lock the hubs. When in 4 wheel it is difficult. To make a turn
