Keep checking the oil for coolant contamination. Coolant is either leaking out or going out exhaust via head gasket.

Yeah that what it sounds like, you can buy a test kit for blown headgaskets if your a DIY type of person or your favorite shop can do the test. If it reads positive the the heads have to come off, checked and milled flat and new gaskets installed and the heads put back on, so not a cheap repair.

I did the test kit but I don't think the coolant was circulating so it was negative

No signs in oil on dipstick

It has to be at operational temp for it to work. Another test you can do is too remove the spark plugs, apply pressure to the cooling system overnight usually about 18 to twenty lbs, you must make sure there are no coolant leaks for this too work, after overnight with pressure crank the engine over and see what cylinder the coolant sprays out.

If car overheats while driving you can lose coolant without seeing any obvious leaks - it can go out overflow tube from coolant reserve/degas bottle. Can also happen if cooling system is over-pressurized, something that can happen with a bad head gasket. Could also have a leaking heater core and coolant is draining to ground while driving via heater box drain. If coolant is not circulating then look into a bad thermostat or water pump.
