2004 DHS started whirring when idling

Asked by kc129 Jan 24, 2014 at 02:12 PM about the 2004 Cadillac DeVille

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Cadillac started making a whirring noise when throttle is not engaged.  Also, when driving, it stops running.  I can pull over and will restart, with no problems.  When I restated today, and let idle it started revving up. Mechanics cannot figure out why it is stalling.

Check for loose vacuum hoses. It also can be either a dirty/faulty idle air control valve and or dirty throttle plate.
