2001 Cadillac Deville DHS - Will not Start - Loud click when attempted

Hello, My 2001 Cadillac Deville DHS will not start. I tried starting with no
luck. It just softly clicked when attempted. Figured my battery was drained
(although the battery is about 1.5 years old in Houston, Tx weather). I
decided to jump it off but once I attached the jumper cables and tried the
click got louder. It sounded more like solenoid type of click and never turned
over. After this I hooked up a charger to it for the day and monitored it for
about an hour and the charger said it was fully charged. I tried starting it
about 3 hours after removing the charger with no luck. Woke up this morning
and now the car is very low on power. No interior light comes on and when I
used the remote to lock the car it was very low on power acting. Does
anyone have any thoughts on the issue? Thanks in advance.

Everything you have described indicates a low or bad battery. Best thing to do would be to take the battery out of the vehicle and have it charged and load tested. If it checks out OK, then be sure the battery terminal ends are clean and tight when you re-install the battery.

Gary thank you for the reply. You think this is a battery issue even though the battery is only 1.5 years old and would not turn over with jumper cables? In my limited experience with car batteries they usually would turn over with jumper cables. Plus, I hooked up a charger to the battery and it indicated a full charge. The click the car made once I hooked up the jumper cables and tried to start were very different than I have heard before. I was thinking it may be starter related, no battery. But I cannot be sure. I will check the battery in the meantime.
