2006 Ion - Airbag light is on, is this a common symptom for the recent ignition recall?

The airbag light on the dash came on.  I did a little research and found the iginition
recall that was posted for these cars earlier this year.  That recall mentioned
something about affecting the airbag system, I'm not too clear about what the issue is.
I was just wondering if this could be related.  I am scheduling an appointment with the
shop the get the ignition switch changed out per the recommendation of the recall, but
i would also like to know if i should have any expectation that this would be the cause
of my light coming on.

very possible it is, The whole auto industry is becoming ,lets say a house of cards LOL
