99 3.8L series II no crank-security light on

Can a transponder key go bad? Aside from
the obvious symptom, (no crank) is there any
way to tell if the chip has gone bad?

Wow. THAT has to be the problem, because that was the BEST, most concise, user friendly explanation anyone has ever given me on anything, and I'm 63. Thank you Js08016
