I think it might be something to do with my Transmission

My 1996 Ford Thunderbird I get in it and starts just
fine I put it in reverse and it move just fine then o
put in drive and it goes but it only goes like 5 mph
but my rpm goes  like 3to 4 and I'm still going only
like 5 mph. What can it be
