Problems with my pontiac thoughts?

Will not stay running wants to die at stop lights
idles very rough strong smell of gas when started

Any lights lit up on the instrument cluster? Scan for the OBDii trouble codes yet? Only dies when warm or cold?

Can you say "Tune Up"? If it has been a while it probably just needs some basic care and attention (plugs, wires, cap & rotor, fuel filter, etc). Otherwise I would do what TDolby said, check for codes and identify any warning lights that are energizing.
