fuel pump issues

Asked by alcbundy Nov 22, 2013 at 11:12 AM about the 1992 Plymouth Acclaim 4 Dr STD Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

on a 92 plymouth acclaim when you turn the ignition key you can hear the fuel pump engage(building pressure). but normally in other vehicles you dont normally hear it after that. so on a 92 acclaim is it normal to hear the fuel pump running after first turn of key before total ignition?

the reason that the relay is cutting out is because of an undervoltage condition...perhaps your battery is gettin' old now...five years is all that you can expect from these new NON lead tin-antimony alloy batteries....measure the chassis voltage....probably want to wirebrush the main chassis ground to be good for 300 or more cold cranking amps~
