96 Ford Mustang GT troubleshooting

Definitely sounds ignition related. How is the switch and lock cylinder?

Did the old key have a chip in it? May need to have the new one programmed

The switch and lock cylinder are good. The old key did have a chip but the vehicle came without the original key gender the reason I changed the ignition.

New key have a chip in it too? The chip may need programmed to your car

The ignition and key are from another mustang same year. So not new but is can the key still be programmed?

I believe so, the key sends a specific code to the computer telling it that it's the key for your vehicle. The code is stored in the computer and determines whether the code is right or not. (Vin specific)

Ok well hopefully I can try getting this key programming done and it starts the car. Thanks. I'll.let you know how it goes

Just means the key needs reprogramming and a dealer mechanic should have no issue reprogramming the used key to your vehicle....just take the vin info with you....(not 100% certain if he needs access to the car to do it)
