Why is it when I put my 96 ford Explorer in auto my transfer case motor kicks out
When I get my 96 Explorer out of 4 low and get it in auto the
transfer case motor kicks out and just grinds and out times
it is in 2 wheel low someone one here told me about the
cylinoid but why does my transfer case motor kicks out
I may have suggested your range shifter is powered by a solenoid or even vacuum. Other 4x4's have a manual lever. Either way, if it "kicks out" under a load, then it is not getting fully engaged. Once again it is probably a linkage problem. The vehicle being 20 years old there is corrosion or dirt keeping it from working right. I'm sorry this has not been resolved yet. Maybe someone here can help us out.
I might add that when shifting ranges, your transmission has to be in neutral, motor idling, and it helps if you are rolling along about one MPH. Then gently coax the transfer case lever or control into 4H or wherever you are going. You may just be doing it wrong and nothing is broken. That would be good news!
