I just rebuilt my transmission. Put in the transmission new torque converter and transfer case. The truck drove fine for about 5mi then it started slipping real bad an now it won't even move.

My 2002 ford explorer transmission
went out so I had it rebuilt. I put the
new transmission in an the vehicle
seemed fine. It drove great to the gas
station, but on the way home it
started slipping realy bad. I took it
home my husband put new
transmissions fluid in it, checked all
the sensors, an checked the transfer
case. Were at a loss. It sounds an
feels like the car is goof into gear, but
it won't move. Any ideas?

Don't know if the same tranny is in the 2002 as in the 1996, but I had the same problem. I found out when I reinstalled the new torque converter I had to slide it on, then turn it until it clicked in, sliding back a little more. That could be your problem.

We checked the torque converter an it seems to be locked in. It won't go back anymore.

I had this issue years ago and I had forced the transmisison on to the pump and sheared the pump drive tabs off, check the pump.
