hard to tell from your info but if the sound is coming from the front of the motor try lubing the idler pully bearings if from rear of motor maybe starter motor is holding in
I agree. And the starters are easy to change on these.

recently replaced drive belt. adjusted tension 2 weeks later. A mechanic heard it, and said everything is tracking correctly. don't want it to become something bigger.

It used to hesitate when starting sometimes but it always started. When I get it started now I can smell gas when I'm driving . I've replaced the starter and the fuel pump not really sure what else...
