Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima automatic and
just lastnight when I stopped at the lights it,
my gears went out and it stopped moving
forward, even when I put it on reverse
nothing. But it made a massive noise when I
tried changing it

My 95 maxima did the same thing at a stop light. When it was being pushed out the way it made a few clicking noises and I guess the noises continued until the battery died. Once I recieved a jump from my mechanic about a week or so later.the car ran perfectly. For my case my car misfires and is need of a tune up(as well as a harmonic balancer, pulley, valve cover replacement, etc which the balancer and pulley were handled at the time I recieved a visit from my mechanic. My starter was recently replaced and afterwards it would do the same thing but that was due to a hole in the mass air flow hose.
