fuel gauge reads empty and fuel light is lit . Gas tank is full . Any ideas what could be wrong ?

Probably a float problem in your tank... The floats that measure the level of that gas in your tank are probably broken... It happens allot. Either that or the floats are stuck. Sometimes that will fix itself.

common on most nissans for the fuel level sending unit to fail not so much in cars but very common in trucks. prob have to replace the level sending unit in tank.

Your fuel gauge pointer has spun around. Take a very strong magnet, hold it up to the plastic protecting the fuel gauge and spin it around to the correct position.
