Transmission Relay on 1999 Eclipse? Please help?

My 1999 Eclipse's check engine light has been on for a while and the car sometimes will not change gears right in the middle of driving but if you turn it off for like 15 mins its fine. We ordered transmission input/output sensors and took it to a dealership and (of course) they pointed out something else that was "supposedly" wrong. The transmission relay is giving out 7 codes and the codes are majr problems that would greatly effect the cars driving if true, but the car runs perfect except for the occasional not wanting to shift. Could the relay really be the problem or should we still put the speed sensors on? Any other suggestions? Please help! Btw, the car is an automatic.

if the relay is throwing that many codes change that 1st and if it dnt fix it id go cheapest fix then and go from there

Sounds like valves r sticking in the tranny a bad relay and ecu maybe

My 1999 eclipse is not going on reverse and it also slips when shifting gears. Everybody says I need new transmission without first looking at it.

Just went through this with mine. Believe me or not it turned out to be a busted crankshaft position sensor. every time my car heated up it would go into a safe mode. shut it down wait for it to cool off about 15 to 30 mins and it was fine till it heated up again. While removing the old sensor it came apart (plastic from metal). replaced sensor no more problems!!!
