Why is my battery draining the juice?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

For some reason my battery goes dead whenever it feels like it.  Usually after
it has set for a couple of days.  It is full of water and the cables are clean.  Also
when I turn the key to start it sounds like my cd player is spinning.  Sometimes
it will turn over (thats when the cd spins too) and sometimes it is completely
dead.  Any suggestions out there?  Thanks.

Maybe the battery is just old and on the way out. You may have a power drain on the battery from something left on in your car.

Thank you full of regrets. I did finally notice my battery is three and a half years old and also the spring thing on passenger door jam that indicates the door is open or closed needs replaced. If the spring is popped out the car thinks the door is open and leaves the dome light on. I need that fixed too or bypassed somehow. Thanks for responding. You were spot on.

Update on the question above. After I replaced the battery and door switch and had ongoing issue with the battery going dead I found out my door needed adjusted. I was baffled because it needed very little adjustment but enough to keep the dome light on. I also found out that my alternator regulator was bad. Yes this issue persisted for nearly two years and a bunch of jumps. I had major health issues and unemployed and couldn’t afford a dealer mechanic to track the issue. What a temperamental little car but I love the car and bought it new. Runs great.
