T case problem

I have awd 2005 Mitsubishi endeavour  and the
transaxle is broken .is it possible to make it 2
wheel drive by removing either the front or rear
drive shaft and use it like that until i have it fixed

But my husband thinks our drive axle may be broken... how can I tell? Can I drive it like this?
