sray all vacuum hoses/intake/egr area with carb cleaner when it is at idle to see if the rpms change...sounds like its running lean.. (falls on its face)..do you check the fuel pressure and change the fuel filter?

I have a 2002 Cougar 5-speed, V6 that is having a major oil problem. It's leaking on the motor & my tail pipe is completely black. Small small oil spots on the ground as soon as I put it in park but no major puddles. The smell is awful & it's smoking when I park it after driving it. I have a 2000 Mercury cougar and when I go to put gas in it it will pump for a few seconds then stop and start to shoot gas out of the top of the tank then won't take gas at all. 7 Answers
