Coolant fan wont shut off

battery hooked up wrong shorted out alternator , I have changed the fan relay not sure what else we can do?

Have you checked or tried replacing the relay? Possibly an electrical current surge could have fried the relay contacts together although I doubt that. Find the relay for the fan, if you don't have meters or jumpers to test it, then find another one of the same type and switch them. If that solves your problem good, if not further testing will be required. I can't swear to it for sure, but I doubt that just hooking up the battery backwards would have caused this, I think it is just a coincidence. Let me know how you make out.
