Trailer Running Lights not working 2019 F-250

Asked by veb2127 Aug 05, 2020 at 09:58 PM about the 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty XLT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased 2019 F-250 and the trailer running lights will only work when
the truck headlights are on the "on" position. If I switch to automatic
headlights the trailer running lights do no work. Turn signals, trailer brakes and
brake lights work great when headlights is in the on position. How do I get the
trailer running lights to work when the automatic headlights is selected?

If you want the running lights on all the time you need to rewire the trailer and run a new circuit from your truck to the trailer with a switch. The running lights should turn on once the headlights turn on at dusk if you have the switch on automatic.

I haul a horse trailer with a 2019 f250 xl, and when I had the automatic lights on the truck/trailer brakes checked when I put the right turn signal on. This was quite a jerk, and I did have a horse in the trailer at the time. I seriously thought I was loosing my mind. Shortly after this happened the truck’s message center had a notification stating left turn signal malfunction. What I found is that when I plug the trailer into the truck, select headlights on. REGARDLESS. Otherwise, issues will rise. I honestly don’t have time for this type of crap so that’s what I do.
