My car runs at around 225 to 228 is this normal?

The original equipment thermostat for your car is rated 187F so 225F is quite a bit high if that's the true temperature. I would take one of those infrared thermal tools and take a reading at the thermostat housing while it is running and fully warmed up. If it says 225F, change the thermostat. If it says 187F, change the temp sending unit. It could be other components at fault too, but I would start at the thermostat.
