Fuel problems

Only getting 42 psi at the
fuel rail and it wont start
unless I spray starting
fluid in it , then it just dyes
out , what's the problem

I looked at info for your vehicle, 3500--5.7L engine. Fuel pressure 60--66 psi, key on engine off. If low fuel pressure, the problem usually on the supply side, fuel filter--fuel pump. If you have that spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems. Any applicable trouble codes?

    Could u hear the sending unit in gas tank if you put your ear up to it. Humming sound or anything? Truck will run when underhood fuel pump is manually pumped but quits soon after you stop.
