Why does my steering wheel vibrate at red lights or when idle?

Asked by cpowers24 Mar 29, 2019 at 12:47 PM about the 2018 Nissan Frontier SV V6 Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently purchased a NEW 2018 4x4 6ft bed 4 door Frontier. It had only
135 miles on it, driven from another dealer. Right away I noticed an
obnoxious vibration in the steering wheel, especially when I am stopped at a
light with my foot on the brake.

I took it back to dealer who said it was an airbag and replaced it. The
vibration is still there, so much so that I was able to videotape it and send to
Nissan service. The tech told me that he looked on Nissan's site and it is
classified as normal. This is my third Frontier, I had a 2010 and 2016, neither
had this issue. One service place told me that they would check the idle,
another told me that they can't change the idle, that it is pre-programmed.
Beyond frustrated. Any ideas?

You could also try another Nissan dealer to avoid paying a mechanic hundreds of dollars to try and figure it out.

Every Nissan Frontier does this because their engineers are clueless.
