How do I change out a side vent window (drivers side) on a '98 Ford Explorer Sport (2 dr.)?

Asked by John_John Jul 06, 2014 at 11:08 AM about the 1998 Ford Explorer 2 Dr Sport 4WD SUV

Question type: General

Driver's side vent window fell out due to a broken pop-out latch and dry-rotted glue in the
mount railings.  If I find a replacement can I not mess with the mounts and just glue the
replacement window back into the mount (after cleaning it of course) and secure it with
the new pop-out latch?

The best glue to use is polyurethane you get primer you can put on the glass and rail

the mounts are just 2 11 millimeter nuts under the panel, very easy to do once the rear latch is removed, your making the job harder doing it the other way, new window comes with the mounts already on

Do you know of any videos or a diagram that can show me how to remove the old railing and install the new one with the window on it?
