NEED A GEAR CABLE FOR A LINCOLN 1994 CON.  BECAUSE OF AGE OF CAR UNABLE TO FIND NEW CABLE. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Have you contacted a Lincoln dealership? There are parts that only dealerships can get, and things like shifter cables are one of those parts. I would try that first. If that doesn't work out, you can always try either repairing the existing cable or finding one that is the same length and hope for the best that it can fit with minimal effort/alterations.
