93 keep Wrangler stalls, smoke

Asked by Michelle Aug 29, 2020 at 05:53 PM about the 1993 Jeep Wrangler 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

93 keep Wrangler, just purchased. Driving
for a while, the a shudder, then engine shut
off. Turned it back on, drive a bit, happened
again, started again and stalled in the
driveway where smoke was coming out
from under the hood. I couldn't look at it
then. Now, a week later, it starts up and
runs, can't find any leaks, oil okay but
coolant was almost out. Could it just have
been overheating? I don't want to take it
out and get stuck, as I am thinking it
couldn't be that easy. As I said, just got it
with little info. Ideas?

Deal with the coolant leak before you fry the engine. I would take it in for a full cooling system service and new hoses.

^ In addition to that, make sure it's checked for a head gasket failure.
