Idling issues with 1992 nc ford fairlane ghia

Asked by Apr 19, 2017 at 12:05 AM about the 1992 Ford Fairlane Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1992 bc ford fairlane ghia starts beautifully and
idles for about 30 seconds before it starts running
rough and then stalls.    After about two minutes
and starting it three or four times it clears up and
idles perfectly.   Only happens on the first start of
the day no matter what time or temperature

Kinda sounds like a sensor is sending an incorrect signal to the ECM, maybe you can find a shop that still has an old Ford OBD 1 breakout box, or they could test the sensors one at a time at the ECM's main connector if they have the wiring diagram, but that will take a lot of time. However the very first thing I would try is the O2 sensors, they are fairly reasonable in cost and if they haven't been changed they should be anyway.

Thankyou

Gidday barrell1. Did you find the answer to your problem. My NC is doing exactly the same thing and have tried everything to fix it to no avail
