4wd jeep wrangler se

I just bought my wife a 2000 wrangler
se. No owners manual. Can't figure out
how to shift into 4wd.  Anyone know?

It's a shift on the floor with the 4hd and 4l on the shifter. I can move, if I use a lot of force, but doesn't engage.
