changing spark plugs

If it still has the 4.0L engine, they should be along the driver's side, but they may be hidden by the intake tube from the air filter. The distributor cap on these engines is located near them and the wires are fairly short. I don't think they are on the passenger side of the engine but it has been awhile since I've tuned one of these up. I'm also not sure when Chrysler went to coil-over plugs, in which case you may not be looking for a wire at all, but for a flat black piece attached to a wiring harness which serves as the plug wire and individual-cylinder ignition coil all in one.

There is no distributor on these engines anyways (99-2001) They are coil on plug system. pass side of the engine, there will be a coil on top of eash plug. Unbolt the coil and change the spark plug.

this is a coil on plug system, the coils and plugs are on the passenger side and 4 13mm bolts hold the coils to the head, they all come off as an assy. when reinstalling make sure all the plug wire stubs are on the plugs or it will misfire

Changing s/plugs on a 4.7 is not as easy as it sounds: You will need to identify each coil after you have removed the air filter system, loosen three screws and two bolts. The coil wire is easily removed by slight pressure and wiggling the connector off the harness. There are nuts that hold down each coil and the coil will have to be lifted off the bolt, the coil may need to be wiggled off the s/plug as the s/plug sets in recessed hole and after the s/plug is unscrewed you will need to lift the s/plug out of the recessed hole, I use a magnet to lift the s/plug, or you can use a s/plug wrench with the ceramic cushion. Start with cylinder one and if that is to difficult then take the car to a mechanic as cylinder 7 and 8 are a pain in the butt.
