Adjust the timing.

check if the wires are correctly installed

The wires are per the diagram. How do I adjust the timing?

You need a timing light to do that. To get it started, mark where your distributor currently is so you can put it back if needed. Rotate clockwise all the way until it bottoms out, then back off ~ 1/4 turn, then see if it starts. If it does, drive it. If the motor pings or has no power, adjust and drive again.
