start now, it starts with starting fluid but doesn't
stay running.

I'm wondering if it could get clogged because about a year ago my truck got sugar put in the gas tank by some vandalizing teens. But I never had a problem with it.

My first guess is that when you ran so low on gas, your fuel pump picked up a piece of trash inside of your tank and clogged, either the fuel filter at the pump inside of your gas tank, or the rail filter canister mounted on the frame of your truck...........Go to your local parts outlet and buy a Haynes or Chilton's manual that includes your 2000 Yukon, (probably about thirty bucks) ..........Go to your trunk, put the key in the ignition switch and turn to the run position. DO NOT TURN KEY ENOUGH TO CRANK THE STARTER OVER. Listen real carefully for a light click from beneath the hood, (might hear it), and a whirring sound from under your truck (should hear it)........If you hear the click, but no whirr, look at your fuel pump...(double check the fuel pump by removing the gas cap and listening when you turn the key, NOT TO CRANK, JUST TO THE RUN POSITION)....If you don't hear the click, but do hear a whirr, check the fuel pump relay. (your manual will tell you precisely where to find it, .....on my 90 chevy and my 94 GMC, the FP relay is in the engine compartment on the firewall on the passenger side) I'll be back in a bit...

O.K. I need to shut up on the 2000 Denali because my Haynes manual says that the Denali will probably have the Central SFI system, which I have never had any reason to dig into..........Most of what I know anything about stops at the TBI.......However, my manual does indicate that the 2000 will not have the relay on the firewall where I said, but in a convenience center located somewhere in the engine compartment which contains fuses and other relays.........If you are going to try to do work on your own vehicle, GO GET A thirty buck manual that includes your vehicle, and start studying it!.....Haynes or Chilton's......I have Chilton's for 88 through 98 GMC and Haynes for 88 through 98, all models, and 99 through 2000 for CK and the Denali....Both cost around thirty bucks each when I bought them......Much of the information in each is the same, with a slightly different format.
