Botched fuel pump job/Need help!

I changed the fuel pump on my "99 Denali.  I couldn't find the right tool to disconnect the pump from the line so I cut the plastic from the old pump.  I then tried to get the plastic pieces out of the line and couldn't, I ended up damaging the line.  I put it back together and it rode and accelerated much better but, idled very rough.  I drove it scarcely over the next couple of days thinking it would settle in and begin working properly.  when it didn't I knew I had to go back and replace the line. But now it's not starting.  

My questions are:
What is the right fuel line disconnection tool for a '99 Denali?
Once I change the line, how do i get it started?
Is there air in the lines?

go onto snapon.com website and type in fuel line disconnect there will be different options pick one. Yes there is air in the lines. It is not like your brake system where it has to be air free. Your fuel drains back into your tank after a while, most systems hold 20 psi in the rails for a quick restart. When you say its not starting, is it cranking? did you blow the fuel pump fuse? did you check the fuel pump relay? have you tested for power?
