If the oil is real low will it cause the jeep to lose some power and produce a funny smell. When I start it up it runs by when I tried to drive it it started to lose power and the temp guage went all the way to cold.

Sounds like you're low on oil and out of coolant. There's not enough coolant to cover the temperature sensor. Bring the coolant and oil up where it should be and hope for the best. The engine may be cooked.
