All my lights are on.
My lights on my 2017 outback came on. ABS, check engine, RAB disabled,
Brake and some other. I tried the gas cap because after I put gas in and drove
for awhile the lights came on. Took it to the dealer and they told me it was the
ECM which they checked everything and reset the code. The code did not
come back on until a day later. This time they are telling me it is the CAM
position sensor which will cost about 400 dollars. If that does not fix the issue
the next step would be the Spraco which would cost 2500 dollars. My
outback is a 2017 and 78700 miles. This should not be happening. What do
you guys think?
an under-voltage condition may cause relays to stick open/or closed, this will happen when after seven or so years, the tin/antimony alloy battery will stop taking a charge anymore, so with new/recycled battery and tidy fresh cable ends, the problems will disappear, press reset on the OB3 code reader~
batteries may only last five years
Stay away from the dealer unless it is the last resort, they only want your money, next find a good independent shop and have them check it out. It could just be bad grounds for the sensors.
Yes I having thinking of picking up my car and taking it elsewhere it does not seem that they go from not knowing why the lights are on to now telling me about these two things that cost this amount of money. They must of cleared the codes because I have not received an email from my Subaru about the codes being on, which I did previously.
On a lot of Asian makes when the computer sees a problem it will turn on a bunch of lights so it gets your attention, even if those systems do not have a problem. As quick as you can take it to someone that will take the time to check the vehicle out, live data testing has always worked for me in the past even if it took a little bit of driving to get it to act up.
When the computer turns on the CEL, it turns off stability, traction, and cruise control functions and those trouble lights illuminate. You just have a problem that caused the CEL and you need to find that. And I agree that a dealer won't find anything without a trouble code reading and a mechanic with greater ability and patience than they have. An independent shop should better serve you.
