Engine noise

Question type: General

After my (dealer free) oil change. My
2017 Silverado with 16995 miles on it,
developed a engine knock. I brought
this back to the dealer and was told it
was a lower end eng knock. After
removing  the oil filter and finding
metal in it they are taking the engine
apart to determine the cause, my
question is , could this be from the lube
guy forgetting to put oil back after the
service ?

I'd have the dealer replace the engine , with at least a new GM short block but I think I'd want a long block ( New Engine )
